Absolutely Cracking weekend. Stayed at a nice, smart hotel just by Templemeads Station. Arrived around 8 ish on Friday night and headed out to the restaurant 1 minute down the road that gave all guests at the hotel a free glass of wine !
Then off to the Waterfront for a few drinks, which finally ended back at the hotel at 2am..
For those that made it up in the morning, a trip to Broadmead shopping centre (where 16 tickets for paintball anywhere in the country (including Tonbridge) were available for just £50 - bargain !
Off then to Bath by train for a look round, food , drinks and rugby (England vs All blacks) whilst the rest of the group had a look round the Baths and a bus tour of the city.
Back to the Hotel around 6ish (picking Paul's lost coat up on the way back from the first night restaurant - he must have been freezing on Saturday !)
An hour chilling in our rooms, then back out for some grub. After a mooch round, we settled on a Lebanese restuarant - never tried it before but it was very nice.
We ended up in 3 different clubs in the evening, all very different but equally good. First up was the chill room which lived up to it's name - nice armchair, could have stayed there longer ! Nice mix of reggae choons (one with a blend of michael jackson if i recall). To avoid having to pass Steve the pipe and slippers, we moved on to another place, the name of which i forget but it did have live music - including some superb BONGO playing !!
3rd and final venue for the evening was a nightclub called reflex which was suggested by some fellow diners at the lebanese place. Great atmostphere inside, cheesy (but good) 80's music, and next thing you know it's 3am. Cab back to the hotel, another(!) pint in the hotel bar and finally hit the sack at about 4am. Cracking.
Another missed breakfast the next day then.
Had a wander round on sunday for brunch (including going round in a big circle, each of us thinking the other knew where they were going !), found a nice cafe with all day breakfast. Perfect hangover cure.
Headed up to Clifton to see Philippa's cousin Hamish (he of Gloucester and NZ cricket), stayed til 4ish for a long chat and cup of tea in his plush pad.
Finally headed back down south after that, pretty knackered but an excellent weekend I'm already planning the next trip !!
