We need your help more than ever, with a busy festive period approaching and our club’s activities co-ordinator on an extended holiday! Please can you therefore e-mail your event ideas in advance to the club’s committee on committee@westkentivc.org.uk and/or come along on the night to help plan activities for December and January. Perhaps you might like to offer to host a new year’s eve party, or help arrange a Christmas meal? Or kick start your new year with some active and energetic events? Or suggest something completely unusual and a break from the norm? All suggestions and offers will be most appreciated, and committee members will be happy to co-host an event with you if you need some extra assistance.

Join in for an hour of fun and furious mixed doubles badminton matches, although it is not too competitive as its just for fun! Regulars and newcomers most welcome. Please bring your own racket and suitable attire. The cost is normally £2.00-£3.00 depending on numbers. Please book in with the organiser by 31st October to ensure court availability.

Experience the thrill and fun of skating on real ice in the Calverley grounds on its opening day! This popular park in the centre of Tunbridge Wells transforms itself into a winter wonderland in the run up to the holiday season, so wrap up warm, put your skates on and fling yourself onto the slippery stuff for a fun night out! Tickets £9.50 for a one hour slot starting at 7.30pm, which includes skate fitting time. The ice rink will be popular at peak times, so pre-booking is essential. Please give your £9.50 deposit to the organiser by 8th November, and any group discounts will be refunded to you on the night. Any latecomers can book themselves in on-line, where extra booking fees may apply. After the skating, we can drag our arching bones into the nearby Black Pig pub for a liquid refreshment.

Much cheaper than a night at the cinema, is watching a DVD in the comfort of Andrew’s living room! Tonight’s film will be “Flawless” starring Michael Caine and Demi Moore, which is a stylish diamond-heist crime thriller set in swinging 1960s London. Bowlplex offers a night out with a difference, with their new “glow bowling” concept – this is when the lights go down and they crank up the music, so the bowling lanes turn in to a bit of a party venue! Whilst bowling, why not grab yourself a drink from the bar, and perhaps a bite to eat from the Bowlplex Grill (burgers, hot dogs, nachos, jacket potatoes, pizza and more). Two games of bowling starting 7.30pm costs £11.00 inclusive of bowling shoe hire. Please book in with the organiser by 1st December, as this is a busy time of year.

Tee off is 10.45am prompt for a leisurely round of nine holes. Poult Wood is a challenging par three short course, ideal for beginners and more experienced golfers alike. The golf course starts and finishes in ancient woodland, with many holes giving panoramic views across the Weald of Kent. Small greens and interesting shots over water prove a great test.
