A leisurely Saturday morning cycle ride from Tonbridge to Penshurst, mostly all off-road and traffic free. Cyclists are invited to meet outside Tonbridge swimming pool from 9.30am (10am latest start) for a few hours cycling, returning to Tonbridge early afternoon. The Tonbridge to Penshurst route follows the national cycle route number 12, and is an approx 12 mile round trip, mostly flat, apart from a bit of a hill at Penshurst. Bring a few quid for a lunchtime cream tea or pub lunch in Penshurst at either the Quaintways Tea Rooms or the Leicester Arms pub, and if you’re lucky they’ll be an ice cream van at Haysden Country Park too! Bicycles can be hired at Cycle Ops bike shop, 148 High Street, right near Tonbridge Castle. Cycle helmet strongly recommended, which can also be hired at the cycle hire shop. Please note, there is a car park charge at Tonbridge pool/park/castle up to about lunchtime.
